Najib, clean up Islamophobia in Malaysia first

By P Waytha Moorthy,

1
Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak should look into his own backyard at how the minority Malaysian Indians and the non-Malays suffer from Islamophobia through BTN, Jakim, Rela, the judiciary, Perkasa and practically every organ of the government institution against the minorities in Malaysia.

Coerced sharia law onto non-Muslims, forceful conversion, statelessness, body-snatching, direct insults similar to the cow head incident that prevails through state-sponsored institutions in Malaysia are classic examples of Islamophobia that affect the tenet of human rights in Malaysia for minorities that needs to be rectified and curtailed before Najib goes to the US to preach how to assist the Barack Obama on Islamophobia.

There are ample examples for this as per the Everest Moorthy, Indra Gandhi and Baggarama cases, the slurs against non-Muslim students by the headmistress and the latest on the issuance of a derogatory statement by a BTN official against non-Muslims.

All the above happens without a wink of an eye against the minorities in Malaysia and even more accommodated by the government, yet here we have the premier offering a publicity speech on assisting on Islamophobia in US to Obama.

Najib, your Islamophabia preaching is a ‘red herring’ argument whereby in doing so; you intend to mislead and distract the discussion away from the issues under debate and instead focus attention on publicity stunts.

The Islamophobia is perpetrated to the highest extent in Malaysia through your administration’s practice towards the minority so how will you be able to assist Obama when you can’t even clean up your own backyard?

If you look at the incidents that occur in Malaysia as discussed above, it definitely gives the credence to Ismaophobia as an irrational fear or prejudice towards Islam and Muslims seems to prevail. It is no more a theological belief system for what is humane but becomes a cult institution perpetrated by the Malaysian institution against what is a basic right for minorities.

Frankly, looking at how a majority Islam-based government in Malaysia and its organs treats its minorities in Malaysia for the last 53 years; it would enlighten any nation of its ramifications.

The writer is chairperson, Hindraf.

Permanent solution and land titles for poor Indian villages cum settlements like for Malay, Orang Asli, Kadazan, Iban and Chinese. But which are systematically “ethnically cleansed” by DAP, PKR, PAS and UMNO in bi racial One Malay-sia.

Re: Permanent solution and land titles for poor Indian villages cum settlements like for Malay, Orang Asli, Kadazan, Iban and Chinese. But which are systematically “ethnically cleansed” by DAP, PKR, PAS and UMNO in bi racial One Malay-sia.

We refer to the above matter on the need to stop all and any further demolishment of Indian villages cum settlements which are also the history and heritage of this country.

In the latest case reported in today’s New Straits Times (1/10/10 at page S2) the family of S.V.Sugayindan (55) who has been occupying their land for more than five generations has now been given notice to vacate their 2.02 hectres of land they are occupying in Kg Haji Abdullah Hukum, Bangsar despite he having a black and white Grant of Letters of Administration granted by the High Court in 1964 for the transfer of estate from his grandfather to his father.

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall refused to acknowledge this legal document but instead deem them as squatters and wants to demolish his ancestral village within one month.

Sugayindran also claims that the government had taken several parts of the land for various projects since 1964 without compensating his family. “For years they have taken our land without even giving us a sen. For even just this one man Sugayindran, he was never offered the RM4 Million the UMNO government has offered to each of the 5,000 Kg Baru Malay muslim villagers in the 80 hectres Kampong Baru which was in the 1960’s granted land titles and is now worth RM80 Billion as said by the Federal Territories Minister Raja Nong Chik. (UM 19/2/10 at page 27).

Also in today’s Sinar Harian (SH 1/10/10 at page S23) three siblings M Aruchunan (54), M Ratnom (51) and M Rabas Sanderek (45) who have been living on their land for 50 years are now forced to move out by the Selangor PKR government. And again they were never offered the RM 4 Million offered to Kg Baru Malays but are forced to buy a RM30,000.00 low cost flats.

The aforesaid happenings to the Indian poor is just the tip of the iceberg. From our monitoring, it happens on an almost day to day basis. On average almost every day some Indian poor is served an eviction notice or is evicted from their only homes.

Unlike for the Indian poor, there are even 507 permanent Chinese New Villages with land titles nationwide receiving RM55 Million allocation @ RM500,000.00 per Chinese village. (The Star 11/8/10 at page N18).

There are similarly thousands of permanent villages with land titles for the Malay, Orang Asli, Kadazan and Iban poor.

Today in real terms the poor Indians do not have permanent villages like these poor Malays, Orang Asli, Kadazan, Iban and Chinese as they have been denied their due land titles from the word go.

We have taken note that within one month of coming to power in Perak the DAP, PKR & PAS government granted up to 110,000 Malays, Chinese and Orang Asli land as follows:-

Utusan Malaysia on 1/1/2009 reported that “349 Rancangan Perkampungan Tersusun (RPT) and 134 New Villages in Perak with 110,000 and 102,000 (60,000) titles respectively to be given out irrespective of the National Land Councils orders involving almost all Malay and Chinese owners and land recipients. Freehold titles for just RM63.00 for 110,000 planned villages (almost 99% Malay) and 102,000 (60,000) (estimated at almost 99% Chinese) Chinese New Villagers in Perak. “The value of these properties will then go up and they can apply for bank loans to rebuilt their houses” says Datuk Ngae Koo Ham, the Senior DAP EXCO Member for Perak (NST 10/10/2008 at page 23). The PKR, DAP and PAS Perak State government also allocated 1,000 hectares (about 2,500 acres) of land to nine Chinese schools “for them to generate revenue to pay for their operational expenses” says PAS Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Nizar Jamaluddin (NST 31/8/2008 at page 38). The schools were urged to form a company to work the land and share the profits among themselves. The Pakatan Rakyat Menteri Besar also donated RM30,000.00 for each of the nine schools.

Further the 3.3 hectares of land for every orang asli family was approved. 18,000 hectares of forest land have been gazetted as orang asli reserve and another 30,000 hectares more are waiting to be gazetted, says Perak Senior EXCO Member Datuk Ngae Koo Ham (NST 20/9/2008 at page 20).

Enough has been said about the demolishment by DAP of Kg Buah Pala in Penang, the last traditional Indian village in Penang Island.

Also the small Indian farms and settlements demolished by the Kedah state government.

This is just the tip of the iceberg of land granted to the poor Malay, Chinese and the Orang Asli. But a similar permanent being granted land titles solution has never been granted to the poor Indians. Why?

Why are they are systematically “ethnically cleansed”?

Why one rule for the poor Indians and another for the poor Malays, orang asli, Iban, Kadazan and Chinese? in bi racial One Malay-sia. Why take advantage and bully these poor Indians who are powerless and helpless as they have no economic power and are poor and politically powerless?
As a permanent solution, we hereby call for all Indian villages and settlements nationwide to be forthwith granted land titles and for there to be a permanent, lasting and wholesome solution instead of systematically “ethnically cleansing” them one by one and then either offering them a token sum of cash or nothing at all or peanuts flats to be bought which they may not be able to buy or because of poverty and/or old age cannot get a loan in the first place or cannot even pay the monthly installments and are evicted when their property is auctioned. They are then back on the streets or end up like the – Three day old baby in cramped up low cost flat with 20 others including 13 children is height of urban Indian poverty. (The Star 13/7/10 at page N6).

Kindly revert to us accordingly.

Thank You.

Yours Faithfully,

Re : Indian Chendol seller denied licence for ten years, stall confiscated, assaulted and told to become security guard. Tip of iceberg of Indians denied licences permits, APs’ etc. But Malay muslim traders freely granted licences.

We refer to the above matter and to the newsreport in The Star today (26/9/10 at page M4). denying even Chendol stall licences for ten long years to S. Vijendren and Yuganthiran, their chendol stall confiscated, assaulted and were told to instead become security guards.

We are shocked, appalled and disgusted at this level of racist and religious supremacy practiced by the UMNO controlled government’s Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and almost all other licensing authorities nationwide and on a day to day basis.

DBKL forces them to close shop by issuing them repeated hefty compound notices. And the last straw was when Vijendran was punched in the face by a Malay-sian DBKL officer on 31st August 2010 at 1.00 a.m, his stall towed away and he being hospitalized for two (2) days to treat his swollen left cheek.

Despite a police report having been lodged as usual the Malay-sian police has taken zero action.

This is just the tip of the iceberg to even the sixth generation Malaysian born Indians being denied licences to even engage in petty trading let alone to engage in the multi billion ringgit corporations. To the direct contrary in the USA, the world’s most powerful country, even a black and bearing a muslim name and son of an immigrant from Kenya ie Barrack Hussien Obama was elected by the 90% White Christians to become the President of the USA.

UMNO has to stop this policy, practice and implementation of this level of racist and religious supremacy in One Malay-sia and stop bullying the already economically weak, poor and politically powerless Malaysian Indians.

We have received complaints of thousands of Malaysian Indians being denied even licences to do business in scrap metal, (5,000 Indians denied scrap metal licences alone nationwide) food stalls, fruit stalls, flower stalls, local council and highway rest area food and other stalls, markets stalls, pasar malam stalls etc.

Licences, permits, APs and business opportunities to export scrap metal, set up Petronas and other petrol stations, Proton and other cars outlets and service centres, KFC, McDonald, Ayamas, and other franchise opportunities, Insurance companies, banks, government tenders, contracts and projects have almost zero Malaysian Indian participation in but all in the name of One Malay-sia.

Kindly grant this Chendol seller and all other Indian petty traders and all the other Indian businesses aforesaid their due licences, permits and APs’.

Please note that the right to do business is a constitutionally enshrined right and not mercy, which DBKL and all the other UMNO licensing authorities can only regulate and not arbitrarily refuse!

Kindly revert to us accordingly.

UMNO electricity switch board room blast: 2,000 over Simpang Lima Tamil school children escape death. Call for almost all 523 colonial era Tamil schools to be rebuilt.

The Colonial era Simpang Lima Tamil school building housing their electricity switch board room and which doubled up as their store room suddenly exploded and burst into flames endangering if not the 2,000 ethnic minority Indian children escaping death. (See Malaysia Nanban 24/9/2010 at page 3 and Makkal Osai at page 8).

Hundreds of students currently sitting for their UPSR exams in the next two school blocks had suffered a shock and thereby disrupting their UPSR examinations.

To add insult to injury another colonial era Sg Tekal Triang Tamil school roof was blown away by strong winds again endangering the Indian childrens’ lives. This is again in today’s very same newsreport in Tamil Nesan 24/9/10 at page 6).

We regret to note that despite 53 years of Independence and with Malay-sia having the world’s tallest twin towers, colonial era Tamil school buildings have not been rebuild in contravention of Article 8 of the Federal Constitution which provides for Equality before the law meaning equality also between the 523 Tamil and Malay muslim schools and Article 12 of the Federal Constitution which states that there shall be no discrimination in education for schools receiving government financial assistance. Also Article 28 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989 which Malaysia has rectified in 1995 which in effect guarantees compulsory and free education for all children. (NST 30/10/08 at page 10). But for almost all the 523 Tamil schools in Malaysia, the preexisting poor Indian parents have to come out with money to rebuilt the school, buy computers, sports equipment, stationary and even to pay the school water and electricity bills.

Why does all these have to happen only to Tamil schools? We have hardly read of these happening to a Malay, Chinese, Orang Asli, Kadazan or Iban schools. Why? Because of the poor and politically powerless state of the Malaysian Indians and with almost zero economic power and who are also soft targets and easy to bully?

On behalf of the Two and a half Million ethnic minority Malaysian Indian community and so that in particular this would no recur, we hereby urge your goodselves to within one week announce and also notify us in writing that all colonial era Tamil schools would be accordingly replaced with new four storey, smart and elite schools to at least undo the injustices meted out to the poor Malaysian Indians in over the last 53 years.

Kindly revert to us accordingly.

Thank You.

Underworld reaching out to Indians

image
P Dev Anand Pillai  ,

Much hype has been created after two lawyer brothers had been arrested and remanded to help the police in the investigations into the murders the cosmetics queen Sosilawati. The two lawyer brothers being ethnic Indians, has now brought about the same old rhetoric about the modus operandi of these gruesome murders which apes the styles of murders acted in Tamil movies.

So the moral of the story is that reduce the number of Tamil movies being screened and Indian Malaysians will not resort to violence anymore. Is it as easy as that? I have my doubts. I do agree with many of the well-researched analyses provided by many that the main cause of Indian youths turning to violence is because of the lack of opportunities in any sphere of their lives.

It is easy to blame the MIC but as Indian Malaysians aren’t we also entitled to equality in treatment and opportunities in this beloved land of ours? Why do we finally say that it has been the fault of the MIC for not speaking up for the Indians? Shouldn’t it be the BN government of the day led by Umno since Independence who should bear the burden of responding to such a demand?

There was once a time when we used to see many Indian headmasters/mistresses of secondary schools, Indian police state chiefs, Indian government servants in the railways, waterworks, public utilities, sport bodies and many other arenas but all this is history now. We do not even see Indian boys and girls being elected as head prefects of their schools anymore. If ever we do come across one, it would be a rarity but sadly that is the current status quo.

So with this unequal situation, what do these youths do with their energy? If it is not tapped by the government which was brought to power with their votes, the underworld will tap into this vast human resource to expand their activities. When this happens, we quickly point fingers but do we stop to resolve a way to overcome this imbalance?

After many years of mental slumber where most were lulled into being unable to think, a revolt came and it brought about a jolt in the Indian mind which has now woken up but is it fair to blame current Pakatan Rakyat \governments for what had been socially engineered by the BN for the past 53 years? Can a new Pakatan government do magic by waving their magic wand and change the situation overnight?

From what we have seen so far in most sensational criminal cases, Indians seem to be the best ‘runners’, middlemen, henchmen, scapegoats, point men and foot soldiers for those high up in the social strata who may be of other ethnic races in the country. What can be seen from this is that for the Indian, if a call comes from those high up in positions of power, like the government, politicians and wealthy businessmen, they will heed the call and do as instructed.

So what we have is a loyal and blind allegiance mentality which many feel will uplift them socially. Can we blame them? Who won’t want that. But are we harnessing this energy for the right purpose?

P.UthayakumarWhat if more opportunities were given based on merit, ability, interest and the will to succeed without ever bringing in the colour of the skin or the religion that one belongs to. Wouldn’t it direct their energies to doing good and benefitting society along the way? As the HRP secretary general P Uthayakumar had pointed out, many are still roaming the country without proper birth documents although they would have been in this country for the past three to four generations.

Licenses, franchises, operating permits for petrol stations, stalls at highway rest areas are still not given to the Indians. The Umno- led federal government fails to realise that all these socials ills will eventually give Malaysia a very bad name internationally in every sphere from politics to human rights.

It will reflect badly on them but having been at the helm for the past five decades why didn’t they do some thing to stop this imbalance? Has this been a master plan to slowly get the Indians out of the mainstream or has it been a plain ‘not-at-all-bothered attitude’ shown towards the Indians?

It is of no use to coax and cajole Indians of different South Indian heritage by attending gatherings organized by the Tamils, Telegus and Malayalees. it would be better to get the job done by opening the doors of opportunity for the best to serve. If Tony Fernandez has made AirAsia soar high in the low-cost airline industry, then he must be seen as a Malaysian of Indian decent who has made the country proud instead of being seen as a threat to other races.

The same will be applicable to the likes of Ananda Krishnan of Maxis, Ganalingam of West Port and AK Nathan of Eversendai. They must be seen as the Malaysia’s ability and strength instead of being viewed with the racial lens.

Malaysia’s strength lies in its diversity and if we fail to realise and tap that resource, it will be our failure to realize a very bright future in the development of our mindset. We seek equality in every sense of the word.

HRP: ALL SMILES ON STATELESS PEOPLE

15
Today was the happiest moment of some stateless people as clearly seen in the photograph above and these people have every reason to be so. Their applications for a birth certificate which was supposedly issued to them when they were born in this soil were systematically denied by the authorities but however with the interference and guidance of HRP Penang they were successful in submitting their application to the JPN at Bandar Baru Perda on this day.

However this did not come in a golden plate. HRP Penang has been mobilizing their team members on the run to get all the relevant documents including photos and ferrying 19 all the witnesses as far from Sungai Bakap and Kulim to JPN Bandar Baru Perda Prai.

There were incident where HRP Penang team has to mobilize their team member to accompany the applicant to other state far as Ipoh to get the search form (Keputusan carian) to be accompanied for the submission.

All this did not end here. The JPN officers went further demanding other documents such as “Surat Akuan” from the school/ penghulu or Adun to fulfill some criteria which reasons know to them or purely red tapes and these came as a surprise as these were not made known to us earlier. Anyway this does not hinder the applicant or the HRP team from submitting the application forms. Once again HRP Penang team went on actions and manages to get these forms certified and verified by Penhulu’s and Adun’s for the submission. As these takes some time the JPN officials informed that they will close their counters at 1.00 pm but with the timely interference of HRP 20 Penang adviser who is also the National adviser Mr.Ganesan who put forward some logical reasoning the JPN officer finally agreed to extend the hours till all forms are submitted. Not to forget the registrations begin at 10.00am sharp.

To smoothen the submissions a commissioner for Oath for swearing documents was arranged by HRP team. The commissioner was kept busy all day long. He commended HRP Penang team on the effort put forward not only on documentation but also on mobilizing in bringing in the applicants witnesses and all relevant paper work.

21 A total of about 70 applications were officially submitted and duly acknowledge by the JPN authority and HRP are expecting that the government without any further delay approve their submission and grant them the birth certificate immediately which is rightfully belongs to them as per constitution. At the same time HRP Penang Team thank the JPN Bandar Baru Perda Prai for their co-operation in opening their office today which is a Sunday. The entire exercise ended at around 4.30 pm.

The Fate Of The Subjugated Indian Community

By Muralitharan Ramachandran - malaysianminorityindians.blogspot.com
While the whole nation is still chanting about the Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s sudden diversion on his concept of 1 Malaysia, his Deputy who is also the Education Minister started another chaos by his act of refusal on action against two principals who infuriated the non Malays in Malaysia with their racial remarks. This adds another insult to injury to the non Malays by the racist UMNO government.

Despite of uproars and revelation thrown to them, UMNO government still appears to be arrogant about their measures. Their action is making people from all walks of life including the Malays looking for alternatives to maneuver the Malaysian administration. It shows Malaysians are geared up for changes.

Now, Pakatan Rakyat seems to be using this opening to accomplish its vision to capture Putrajaya. There is this question in my mind, what are their (Pakatan Rakyat) plans for the marginalized Indian community where their basic fundamental rights have been concealed by the ruling party for the past 53 years?

I did pose this question to a few politicians from PR at various casual gatherings and surprisingly everyone gave me the same stereotype answers… “Let us capture federal and then only the Indian’s fate will change”. This answer really made me wonder if PR or their politicians are able to battle for the marginalized Indian community. To get my question answered, I decided to follow an assortment of internet blogs from the opposition party as well as the politicians from the respective parties (which most of them have) and what I got from there is only their daily activities. Not even a single preparation has been outlined to uplift the living standard of the poor under classed Indians. It shows they do not have anything in mind for the Indians. To this, another question strikes my mind….are they genuine or are they equal to BN and their reps?

Indians are far beyond the Malays and the Chinese community in various aspects. BN had failed to identify the problems of Indians for more than half a century and so, the mandate was given to PR hoping for some changes by this oppressed society. But unfortunately PR has let the Indians down by not addressing any of their critical issues.

Unemployment among Indian youth is rising and alarming. Top academic achievers from this marginalized society are also denied scholarship as well as places in higher learning institutions in Malaysia. A large number of Indians are still without proper identification documents due to various reasons and the list goes on. There seem to be no initiative taken by the PR to tackle these problems. Not even a single proposition was presented in the Parliament on those subjects above by PR. The tremendous support given by Indians during the 12th general election is basically been disregarded by PR.

Unlike Human Rights Party (HRP), a political wing of Hindraf, their plan and mission for the underclass Indians is indeed fascinating. Although this movement is not given extensive coverage by media and online news portal, their daily updated website publishes their activities and the problems faced by the marginalized Indian community with shocking facts and figures. These statistics could not be obtained from anywhere and it comes from serious ground work and research conducted by their team of dedicated members.

Many people conclude that HRP cannot accomplish their mission without a political platform and some even accused HRP of aggregating the facts and figures given by them. But then again, none could come forward and prove that the facts and figures given are wrong including the relevant government authorities.

On those speculation and conclusion on HRP’s accomplishment and mission, it is indeed proven erroneous with HRP’s recent victory on its achievement to uphold the constitutional right for freedom of religion, in bringing relief to 10 Malaysian Indians who were caught in conversion turmoil for years. This victory came after extreme pressures given to appropriate authorities by dedicated activists from HRP/Hindraf Makkal Sakthi. These extreme pressures were also proven to be fruitful with another of their recent breakthrough where a number of Indian families were issued identification documents after years of run around given by government agencies and other political parties.

HRP was the sole organization who questioned the UMNO/BN government on denial of government scholarships and places in the higher learning institutions to the high achievers from the Indian community. No political parties even MIC who supposesedly to be the voice for the Indians in the ruling party failed to address this matter which happens to be basic fundamental rights for the past 53 years. This portrays the failure of MIC who is more interested with their domestic issues.

These are merely some examples of HRP’s efforts taken to work out on the community’s dilemma. The facts speaks for itself, it is indeed obvious that, let it be BN or PR administrates Putrajaya, it is not going to make any difference to the marginalized Indian community. A ‘third force’ such as HRP is a good start and a significant to end this subjugated community’s long concealed problems.

Will HRP make it to the assembly after the 13th GE?

Without any interference and sabotage by BN/UMNO government and with HRP’s political empowerment strategies, they are definitely going to roar in the Parliament after the 13th GE.

Don’t Make Mountains Over Mole Hills

By Muralitharan -  http://malaysianminorityindians.blogspot.com
Mohd Amin - Al-Maunah Leader
Racism seems to be stirring Malaysia badly where it is the day after day talk of the town. Every single disaster involving different ethnics is being manipulated as a racist agenda by many.

The recent ghastly murders of cosmetic entrepreneur Dato Sosilawati and her three aides have sparked anger among Malays. Abusive words such as kelling, paria, India bodoh and so on have been bashed to the Indian community here.

Internet blogs and social network pages are created in quest of righteousness for the deceased but abusive and vulgar expressions towards the Indians are posted instead. These pages and blogs have followers whom are Malays, numbering in tens of thousands.

This is an act of immaturity and it is not Malaysian culture.

Non Malays have been tolerant and respecting the Malay culture for decades. There were a string of brutal murders where the killers were Malays but the peace loving non Malays respected the law and left the fate of the killers to the hands of the Malaysian judiciary.

Al-Maunah members charged in court

In July 2000 Al Maunah, a Malay extremist group cruelly murdered two non Malays hostages one detective corporal Saghadevan from the Royal Malaysian Police Special Branch and another Royal Malaysian Army personnel Trooper Matthews Anak Medan. The duo were tortured to death without mercy by this group. The Indians and the Sarawakians did not make this a racial issue.

On June 14th 2003, IT analyst Canny Ong Lay Kian was rapped, stabbed and torched to death by aircraft cleaning supervisor Ahmad Najib Aris but the Chinese community did not turn this rape cum murder into a racial setback.

Weeks before the murder of the cosmetic tycoon and her assistants, the cold blooded murders of two Indian security guards by their Malay colleague due to a small misunderstanding also did not spark any racial sentiment from the Indian society.

These are only a few examples of cruel murders by Malay perpetrators and they were proven guilty by the judiciary system and sent to the gallows. The non Malays did not rent and rave against the Malays.

This is indeed evidence of patience and tolerance by the non Malays.

In the case of the aesthetic products magnate and her assistants, those detained are only SUSPECTS and not proven guilty by the court of law. This raises doubts from minorities in Malaysia of the unnecessary ruckus and rage by the Malays.

Although their action are believed to be politically provoked, Malays should restrain themselves from being the cause of any unwanted incidents in the name of race and religion which can possibly lead to further damage of this nation.

This nation has been blessed with serenity and harmony for eons. Please do not be the sacrificial sheep or a tool to malevolence plan by some politically inclined perpetrators with their motive to disrupt our unity for their political gains.

So, please stop crafting mountains over a mole hill.

Re: No Gazette number or date gazetted on sign board unveiled, under hazardous Telecoms Tower. Selangor state government land for all 2,540 hindu temples in Selangor all in one go.
We refer to the above matter and to the newsreports in Malaysia Nanban 23/9/10 at page 13, Makkal Osai 23/9/10 at page 9 and also in Sinar Harian 22/9/10 at page S5, and The Star 23/9/10 at page N48.
We regret to bring to your goodselves attention that despite the Selangor state government publicising the unveiling of the official signboard gazetting the Padang Jawa Kuil Sri Maha Mariamman, the gazette number and the date the same was gazetted was “conveniently” missing. 003
We regret to note that despite three years of PKR ruling Selangor, it is only now that the signboard has been unveiled and a mere “kosong” promise of RM300,000.00 to rebuild this hindu temple. Maybe we should not be surprised as one political analyst defined politics as making “empty” promises and creating “false” perceptions.
009Kindly let us have the gazette number, the date the same was gazetted and whether the land title has been issued in the name of this hindu temple trustees names, so as not to create the perception that this is merely an empty “kosong” political statement.
Further it has been acknowledged by the Selangor state government that there are 2,540 hindu temples in Selangor (TN 12/9/10 at page 1) and that 95 places of worship for non muslims have been granted land titles (SH 22/9/10 at page S5).
We would like to have a list of all these 2,540 hindu temples together with details of how many of these hindu temples have been granted land by the Selangor state government, the date it was gazetted, whether the titles thereto had been issued and if so whether the titles have been issued under the names of the respective temple trustees names and other relevant details. We would also appreciate photocopies of all these land titles issued, their gazette numbers and the date the same was gazetted together with the gazette notice.
In any event we regret to note that after all the atrocities committed by the previous state government on this Padang Jawa Hindu Temple and demolishing the 96 hindu temples in Selangor, “ethnically cleansing” and wiping out their 200 over year old history and heritage in Selangor. And with 90% of the Malaysian Indians having voted PKR, DAP and PAS to power to be able to form the Selangor state government they are now only granted this raw and piecemeal deal a la UMNO. Note: (One Hindu temple demolished every week nationwide. Between 2004 to 2007, 96 hindu temples were demolished in Selangor at an average of one hindu temple in every ten days.(TN 30/10/08 at page 3).
In fact it is rather insulting that the land this hindu temple has been granted is on a mere 15,000 square feet of land which is just over one quarter acre of land and that too below a health hazardous Telecoms Tower if not on the Telecoms Towers reserve land and endangering the lives of especially the hindu priest and the regular hindu devotees thereto.
From our records forcing a place of worship under a Telecoms tower has never been done before to any Masjids, Suraus, Chinese temples or churches or any other place of worship even in any other part of the world let alone in the world’s cruelest dictatorship regimes. Why are the Hindu temples singled out in Selangor and in Malay-sia? Indians soft targets? The poor and politically powerless Indians are easy to bully?100_2056
For and on behalf of the estimated half a million Indian community in Selangor we hereby apply for another suitable five (5) acre piece of land for this Padang Jawa hindu temple within two (2) weeks from the date hereof at the very least to undo the injustices that has happened to this hindu temple, if not to the hundreds of hindu temples that has been demolished and “ethnically cleansed” in Selangor. This new five (5) acre land is necessary to rebuild a proper hindu temple, a jasmine and other flower garden, a wedding hall, a community hall, a community centre to serve the neighbouring poor Indian community, a car park and land for future temple development which is to be planted with coconut trees and banana plants sacred to the hindus in the interim. This could serve as Selangor’s model hindu temple and which could become Selangor’s “Batu Caves” and also a prime tourist attraction. 100_2039
We also ask your goodself to grant land to all 2,540 hindu temples in Selangor all in one go and gazette the same accordingly under the name of the respective hindu temple trustees and not the usual kosong wayang kulit “PPP” peanuts political propoganda especially in the Tamil dailies by your Selangor Indian Exco mandore.
Kindly revert to us accordingly.
Thank You.
Yours Faithfully,
