Hindraf 24 hours Yaagam in Mantin on Merdeka Day

While the nation is celebrating its 51 years of Independence Day on the eve of 31st Aug. 2008, Hindraf Makkal Sakthi had another way to welcome the day.
They conducted a 24 hours yaagam (fire ritual) for the betterment of Malaysia. It is the first in kind conducted by a NGO to get the divide intervention for the betterment of Malaysia especially the marginalized Malaysian Indians and also the be blessed freedom for the Hindraf leaders and supporters.

The prayers started at 8 am on 30th August 2008 at Devi Sri Maha Mariamman, Jalan Besar Mantin, Ng Sembilan which is about 15km away from Seremban where current Hindraf office located. More than 500 people took part in the round the clock prayers. Many offered various type of pooja items like ghee, oil, husk, flowers, fruits and others. Most of them came all overall the nation to be the participant of this significant and divine event.

This 30th August 2008 is also the mark of one year of the Hindraf class suit against UK government with amounting USD 4 trillion for the neglect of its government during the Malaysia independence for the Indians whom were brought by British to Malaysia during its colonial.

In the Mantin temple, some of the supporters also participate with hunger strike for a whole day starts at 8 am of 30 Aug 2008 and involve in the yaagam as well. The 24 hours Yaagam was an divine event where almost all who came to the temple took part in the offering. Each of them took several minutes in conducting the offering and chant the mantra to be bless by GOD.

The Yaagam and prayers conducted till the next day 12pm of 31 Aug 2008. All the supporters were all still energized though involved in prayers over the whole night. Later after the Maha Poojai to get the divine intervention and bless from the God, at around 1 pm "Anathanam" (Food) were offered to all the devotees who came to the temple.

The whole event were conducted in a very divine and peacefully which reflects the Hindraf's ahimsa way.

Many coordinators took part in the event said it was successful one though it fall in a long weekend. Mr Thanethiran, Hindraf National Coordinator also joined the event on the 31st August early morning after finishing an event in Butterworth on the eve of National Day and travel the whole night to ensure he don't missed this divine event. He stressed that HINDRAF will have more divine events nationwide and foster unity among Malaysian Indians.
Mr Sambulingam, one of the National Coordinator thanked all the supporters and the temple management for the support and involvement. He is happy that Hindraf starts another way to welcome Merdeka.
