US-based Hindu foundation condemns 'cow head' mob - Malaysiakini

The Hindu American Foundation (HAF) has demanded the Malaysian government to conduct a quick and robust inquiry to identify and punish leaders of the mob involved in last week's provocative and insensitive demonstration outside the Selangor state secretariat.

HAF, based in Kensington USA, also wants the inquiry to take stern action on the inaction of the police to stop such an offensive act of religious insensitivity.

HAF public policy director Ishani Chowdhury condemned the demonstration and demanded the Selangor government to rescind the order to relocate a Hindu temple in Section 23 of Shah Alam.

In an Aug 28 letter addressed to Malaysian ambassador to the United States, Ilango Karuppannan, Ishani described the demonstration as "vulgar, religiously provocative, and a racially incendiary act by a Muslim mob."

She also expressed regret that the police stood by and allowed the provocative act to be carried out

Ishani said the mob after Friday prayers threatening violence and bloodshed if the said temple - Sri Mariamman Kovil - was relocated to Section 23 of Shah Alam.

"As if to prove their intent, the mob left the severed head of a cow at the gates of the state secretariat," said Ishani.

She said the cow is considered sacred and revered by Hindus as a "symbol of purity, motherhood and ahimsa (non-violence)."

"We regret that the police failed to stop such provocative act," she said.

Discriminating against minorities

She stressed Malaysia had emerged as a country of particular concern for HAF in wake of numerous Hindu temple destructions and unfair custodial battles in Syariah courts involving single Hindu parents.

She also highlighted the many arrests and persecution of Hindu-Malaysian leaders, and Bumiputra policy laws discriminating against minorities.

"Thus, the countenance by local police of Muslim provocative acts has added cause for alarm in a country that is already facing volatile racial and religious issues," she said.

Ishani said HAF concerned about the law and order situation in the country, and the state's unwillingness to clamp down on religious bigotry.

She pointed such tensions would only bring about a greater sense of insecurity amongst Malaysian Hindus.

"HAF hopes that the Malaysian government would take steps to ensure that interests and rights of Hindus were protected and the temple safely relocated in Section 23 of Shah Alam.

"The leaders of the mob that carried out this heinous act and the policemen, who failed to stop it, must be brought to justice," said the HAF director.

Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) condemned the unsavoury incident and accused Umno of having a hand in it.

"I believe Umno and certain police cohorts organised the inflammatory act intended to incite and create racial hatred and ill-feeling among Malaysian Muslims and Hindus," alleged Hindraf's London-based leader P Waythamoorthy (above).

He asked how the perpetrators were able to walk for over 300 metres in public, conduct seditious speeches calling for bloodshed and racial chaos without any interference from the police who were at the scene.

So far, he said police and the attorney-general chambers have done nothing on the contentious issue, except issuing lip service statements.

Fanning racial hatred

Waythamoorthy also slammed Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar for suggesting that the police would only probe the incident if a report was lodged.

"Here we are talking about an outright and outrageous act, fanning racial hatred that could threaten public security and the Selangor CPO says he needed a police report before action can be taken," he said.

Waythamoorthy recalled several instances where police had brutally arrested and questioned peaceful protesters without any reasons.

"To suggest that the police needed a report before they can take any action is absurd and nonsensical," said the Hindraf leader.

The inaction by the authorities, he said was the main reason behind Hindraf's belief that it was the work of Umno and its stooges to create unrest in Selangor.

He said under the so-called 1Malaysia concept, there should be no distinction between Muslim and non-Muslim dominated areas.

Under the concept, he said Malaysia shall be one multiracial and multicultural society with various communities co-existing and living together side by side and respecting each other's religious practices and beliefs.

Instead of promoting harmony amongst Malaysians, he said Umno was fast becoming a public threat by protecting such devious and extremist acts.

"Umno should curtail such irresponsible acts rather than seeding and sowing hatred for their own political survival," said Waythamoorthy.

He said the Prime Minister Najib Razak (above, left) should immediately issue a statement and take a firm stand on the matter.

He said the premier should not delegate this paramount duty to his 'mandores' and eventually hope for the whole issue to be swept under the carpet.

Waythamoorthy plans to lodge formal complaints with the United Nation's Human Rights Council, European Parliament, United Kingdom Foreign Affairs' select committee and the Global Human Rights Defence based in The Hague if the AG's chambers failed to charge these perpetrators.

Waythamoorthy also called on all peace loving Malaysians, who respect and cherish religious freedom and the right to co-exist, to join a Hindraf-organised peaceful candle vigil at Dataran Merdeka at 6.45pm on Sept 5.

Waytha is 'one and only' Hindraf leader - Malaysiakini

P Uthayakumar said last night that he and the four other Internal Security Act detainees from the Hindu Right Action Force were never the movement's leaders.
Speaking at his book launching function in Simpang Ampat, Penang, he stressed that his London-based younger brother Waythamoorthy was the movement's one and only leader.“Even I am just the movement's legal advisor,” he told some 300 people.
He recalled that inspector-general of police Musa Hassan was first to address the five as Hindraf leaders on the very day they were detained on Dec 13, 2007.
“We were all IGP-appointed Hindraf leaders,” quipped Uthayakumar.
He said that one shall either be elected or appointed by the movement members to claim oneself as leader.
“Waythamoorthy was duly elected by Hindraf committee a few years ago to head the movement. He is the rightful leader, not any other person,” said Uthayakumar, who heads the newly-formed Human Rights Party.
Uthayakumar was detained under ISA along with Kota Alam Shah state representative M Manoharan, DAP member V Ganabatirau, R Kengadharan and then unknown T Vasanthakumar.
They were detained without trial under the security law following a mammoth Hindraf rally in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 25, 2007.
“I, Manoharan, Kengadharan and Ganabatirau were Hindraf lawyers while Vasanthakumar was just a Hindraf activist,” said Uthayakumar.
They were all released from the Kamunting detention camp by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak three months ago.
Since then all five have gone separate ways.
Brothers accused of misappropriating funds
Ganabatirau and Vasanthakumar have constantly been sniping at Uthayakumar and Waythamoorthy, claiming that both brothers have misappropriated Hindraf funds.
While in detention last year, Vasanthakumar had lodged a police report accusing the two brothers of misappropriating some RM700,000 of Hindraf funds.
Uthayakumar explained that he had then specifically told the police officer investigating Vasanthakumar's report that Hindraf had only RM250,000 in its accounts as of January 2008.
He said subsequently he had lodged a report calling on the police to investigate the whereabouts of the remaining RM450,000, as alleged by Vasanthakumar.
“I told the police to locate the money and return it to Hindraf. The police never came back to me on that,” said Uthayakumar, the most famous Hindraf face.
He stressed that the current attacks by certain Hindraf detractors against him and Waythamoorthy were made with malicious intention aimed at tarnishing the brothers' reputation and undermining their struggle.
“It's defamatory and 'mala fide',” he said, slamming the critics that they should instead focus on resolving the plight of the Indian Malaysians.
Uthayakumar said he had listed down 4,932 types of human rights violations committed against the Indian community all these years in Malaysia. But he lamented these violations appeared unimportant to his critics.
According to Uthayakumar, before Dec 13, 2007, the current Hindraf critics were attacking Umno and Barisan Nasional for marginalising Indians.
But now, he said some have switched their focus to attacking him, Waythamoorthy and Hindraf with the sole agenda of splitting the movement and confused the community.

HINDRAF- Press release 30/08/2009- Candle light vigil

The reason turns of event on Friday, August 28, 2009 in front of the
State secretariat building in Selangor with an intention to incite and
create racial hatred feelings between Hindus and Muslims in Malaysia had
got the whole nation riled up against the Federal government led by
UMNO and the ineffectiveness of the police force to curb such
activities.

HINDRAF calls upon all peace loving Malaysians irrespective of their
religion, race, color and creed to join us in a candle light vigil at
Dataran Merdeka on September 5, 2009 at 6.45pm in solidarity to uphold
the concept that all Malaysians are equal with one another for their
individual right to co-exist without infringing and inciting racial
hatred amongst us and create a greater sense of public insecurity.

HINDRAF welcomes all NGO’s and Malaysians from all walk to participate
and make our stand that we Malaysians cannot be cowed by fear and
intimidation orchestrated by the UMNO led government and its stooges
for their own political needs.

HINDRAF stresses that Malaysia is for all Malaysians in equality and
fairness in protecting one another for the public benefit rather than
being marauded by UMNO led Federal government against public interest
as seen in the latest incident in Seksyen 23 in Shah Alam.

Those organizations that are interested to collabarate and walk with
us, please call Selvan on 016-3137840 after 6pm. To our Muslim brothers
and sisters fasting during this period please call Shanti on 019-621 1101 for
special arrangements.

PRESS STATEMENT REBUTTING REPEATED DEFAMATORY STATEMENTS BY SIVANESAN OF DAP

By: Waythamoorthy 27th August 2009

I refer to the statement by Sungkai ADUN Sivanesan in Malaysia
Nanban on 27th August 2009 who have repeated defamatory statements
the latest being that I have taken RM35, 000 given by K. Vasanthakumar.

Sivanesan is no doubt confused and clouded on the facts and have made
allegations with bad intentions. Being a lawyer, he should understand
hearsay is as good as rumours without an ability to prove the factual
truth before an accusation being made. He is not a Hindraf member nor
has he any right to speak on behalf of Hindraf. He seem to
have been giving contradictory statements which is based on his
attempt to create a media spin to serve his political master is none
of his business – initially he said that I had collected a sum of
RM700, 000.00 for purposes of filing the civil suit against the UK
Government without any factual evidence. This I have denied
and am in the process of filing a defamation suit against him and 2
other DAP leaders.

Now he seems to be referring to a statement by K.Vasanthakumar that the
latter had given me RM35, 000.00 as base for his malicious and
defamatory statement on hearsay.

At the height of the mass arrest of Hindraf Supporters pre and post
November 25th 2007, K.Vasantha Kumar had formed a company in the name
of Hindraf Enterprise as Hindraf was not a formally registered NGO and
had used the account of Hindraf Enterprise to collect funds for
purposes of bailing out Hindraf supporters who were arrested and for Hindraf activities.
He was the signatory of the said account. Those
sums collected on behalf of Hindraf were withdrawn by him and held by
various individuals closely linked to Hindraf at that moment which
includes himself, Raidu (Ganapathy Rao’s brother) my ardent
Hindraf friends and family . On the 5th December 2007 (whilst I was out of the country) the IGP and AG had accused Hindraf and me of having links with terrorists
namely the LTTE. There was more reason to belief that the account of
Hindraf enterprise would be frozen and a decision on the
particular situation was made to entrust various individuals to hold
the sum of monies, which included me and others named above. I was
out of the country at the time of the decision and the said amount was
banked into my account by Vasanthakumar on his own prerogative.

These funds have been used partly to bail Hindraf supporters and
activities carried out by HINDRAF in seeking the release of the Hindraf ISA detainees, pay the detainees fines and Court attendance, accommodation and allowances for those attending
court from outstation ect. In fact Raidu stood bail for Uthayakumar
on 12th December 2007 for RM50, 000 from these sums collected in the
account of Hindraf Enterprise. All monies are accounted for and the
fund banked into my account during my absence is still with me.

I stress that at no instance have the funds collected been used other
than for the purpose in ensuring the release of Hindraf Supporters (who
were initially charged with attempted murder), the 5 detained under
ISA and the cause of the marginalized and suppressed Malaysian
Indians. In this process I do not expect any form of gratitude from
anybody nor any gratification as I do what I am doing out of my
personal conviction and belief that Malaysian Indians have been
cheated and short changed by Malaysian politicians. At the time of
filing the civil action against the UK Government in August 2007
Ganapathi Rao and Vasanthakumar was not part of Hindraf and none of
us in Hindraf knew the both of them. They only approached Uthayakumar
in late September 2007.

Sivanesan should know his facts before making wild and unfounded
allegations, which I view very seriously and his irresponsible act
for a cause that he serves his political masters as opposed to the
public interest. He and his fellow DAP leaders are deliberately making
unfounded allegations to divert from the Kg.Buah Pala issue where
Hindraf have taken a very firm stand that the village which is almost
200 years have to be preserved. Linking me with a financial scandal is
a cheap form of political antic and sandiwara by Sivanesan.

What ever it is, the truth has to prevail, and it is up to the
community to understand and comprehend the truth and what I do is
always for the truth for the systematically marginalized Malaysian
Indians as I have personally sacrificed my life for the goodwill of the
community without any expectation.

Sivanesan and those who have been around longer than HINDRAF
should be mature enough to understand the objective of HINDRAF and
its genuine leaders rather than posturing to serve their political
masters.

Kg.Buah Pala drama between Police and the Developer!

Timeframe :

From 6.45pm - Two plaincloth policemen came to Kg.Buah Pala to arrest Tamaraj, Murugan and Arumugam the committee members of Kg.Buah Pala under the instruction of Tuan Ibrahim and OCPD and Sjn.Uda.

-The policemen asked Mr.Murugan and Mr.Tamaraj to produce their IC and kept it with them, the committee members did not refuse the arrest but their IC was given back to them few minutes later after receiving a phone call.

-Police advised the committee to to meet Sjn.Uda at the Patani Road police station and I followed the committee to the station.

-At the entrance of the police station, Const.Rahiman said he has instruction from Sjn.Uda not to let the Villagers to enter the Station, we were instructed to stay outside in the rain until we pressure them to enter and our intention is to lodge a reoprt.

*Reporters present at the police station was chased out from there soon we enter the station although they came in with a valid pass.

From 7.44pm - Mr.Tamaraj and Mr.Murugan lodge a report against the for police harrassment, humiliation and threatening in Kg.Buah Pala.

From 7.58pm - One of the policeman involved in the earlier arrest attempt came and check the report made by Mr.Tamaraj and Mr.Murugan.

From 8.09pm - Report completed and we proceed to the 3rd floor to meet Sjn.Uda as instructed earlier. At the BILIK STANDBY- (2) DETEKTIF, a plaincloth Special Branch officer by the name of Naga, informed us that he received instruction that the Buah Pala Villagers are coming to surrender themself and he is stationed there to handle the situation. We were puzzled.

* At this point of time we already sense that something is not right and we suspect that it is related to the Developer or State Government's involvement and relation with the Demolition attempts.

At 8.21pm Sjn.Uda came into the office and he was not aware about the arrest instruction and the whole process. After discussing with Mr.Tamaraj and Mr.Murugan for few minutes and few phone calls, we were asked to meet Puan Sarah on the report made against Mr.Tamaraj months ago.

From 8.43pm - while waiting for Puan Sarah, we were asked to leave and come back once we receive call from Pn.Sarah. At the same time we were instructed to meet Insp.Megat at Jelutong Police Station regarding the case the committee made against Police.

From 9.01pm - At Jelutong police station.

Myself,Mr.Murugan, Mr.Tamaraj, Mr.Sugumaran and Mr.Steven were at the Police Station to meet Insp.Megat who came about 30mins later. He invited us to his office, upon entering the office, we realise something shocking written on the white notice board! The deadline for demolition is on the 1st Sept 2009 and the Suspects to be arrested on the 30th Aug 2009? Does'nt this trigger anything?

This is what written on the notice board in the Detectives room!

Insp.Megat was so humble while referring to the report made on the earlier incident of harrasment for less than a minute and went missing for about 15mins before coming back to proceed with collecting information on each Committee member. He then sat in front of the computer and made a personal check and keyed-in the detail check form.

After completing the detailed report he then told that he wants to detain Mr.Stephen, Mr.Tamaraj and Mr.Sugumaran for 2 reasons. A lady by the name of Santha who is a DAP member and Mr.Tamaraj's neighbor made a report against Mr.Tamaraj on the 9th July 2009 and a developer's contractor Nordin b.Mohd made a report against Mr.Stepehen and Mr.Sugumaran for harrassment on the 4th Aug 2009(Mr.Sugumaran was not in the Village on the said date).

He refuse to entertain further questions from us and he is firm to his decision to detain them. he kepts on informing us that it is a direct instruction from OCPD. He also said " Call whoever, any Dato's that can help you with this case, he also refuse to give details of the case to us, he only gave few info's and most of the thing he said was not accurate!

Lawyer for the Villagers, Darshan Singh arrived at the at the police station about an hour after the detention, he was not welcomed by Insp.Megat, who answered all the question with one answer "Ask my Boss!" when Darshan asked him who is your boss, he answered ASP Siddambaram. When called Siddambaram, he said they will be remanded tommorow morning at 11.00am and according to Megat it is at 11am. They refuse to cooperate with the Lawyer and doesnt even want to reveal the report no. and the person who made the report. which is crucial information for lawyers and it is their right to know. They kept on passing the ball between Siddambaram and Megat.

The Villager starts flooding the police station during the process of detention and at about 12am, there were around 200 villagers and supporters against the detention. At about 1am, when the police tried to ferry the detainees to Patani Rd Police Station, the warrior womens came in to the rescue, they blocked the police van and hailed "Kami tak Buat Salah, tangkap developer" and stood in front of the van, and pushing it until they themself reverse and took the committee members back to the station, the commotion lasted for about 20minutes. Until police gave up! and granted bail to them. Now, why do they grant the bail after all this commotions? they can just release them earlier under the same bail!.

This is the most interesting part in the whole incident, A lady by the name of Santha, who was named by the Police as the complainant for the report made on Tamaraj, suddenly appeared in front of the Van which is in the middle of the commotion and almost reached the Junction to turn left towards Patani Rd. She claimed that she never made any report against Tamaraj recently, and willing to confront the police on this issue, Insp.Megat was right there beside me but pretending not knowing the Issue, I asked him to verify the matter but he refused to talk, Santha went into the police station and explained that the report was made long time ago and it is not a deal now. She withdrew the report and Tamaraj's case is considered closed.

Hindraf files report, urges cops to act fast - Malaysiakini

The Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) has filed a police report on the controversial 'cow head' protest and urged the police to act swiftly.

Hindraf coordinator K Selvam told Malaysiakini said he lodged the report at the Shah Alam district police headquarters. He was accompanied by another 16 leaders and supporters from the movement.

"We wonder as to why the police have yet to take any action against the protesters although they have promised to act swiftly. Until today, nothing has been done," he said.

According to Selvam, the act of marching with the cow's head could create racial tension. “They marched about 300 metres with the head....it was seditious and the police did not do anything (to stop them),” he said.

PM cannot be quiet

Last Friday, some 50 residents from Section 23 in Shah Alam staged the protest against the proposal to relocate a Hindu temple to their area.

Before dispersing, several protesters spat and stomped on the cow's head. The cow is considered sacred to Hindus.

The protest drew flak from various quarters, including politicians from Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat

Selvam said the movement will stage a candlelight vigil on Saturday at Dataran Merdeka if the police fail to act against the protesters.

"We are urging the police to take action and the government should do something about it.

"The prime minister (Najib Abdul Razak) cannot just sit quiet on this matter because he keeps promoting the concept of 1Malaysia and this is a multiracial country," he said.

Earlier today, Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar told Malaysiakinit that a special team has been set up to probe the matter and they hope to wrap up investigations by Tuesday.

The case is being investigated under the Sedition Act.

Buah Pala women block police van ferrying leaders

A tense midnight drama took place at the Jelutong police station in Georgetown, Penang, when some 30 Kampung Buah Pala residents formed a human barricade and forcefully stopped a police van from ferrying their three detained leaders to the lock-up.

The residents' resistance was so determined that the police van was forced to reverse to its parking bay.

Police personnel then took the handcuffed trio - M Sugumaran, Joseph Stephen Draviam and C Tharmaraj - back to the station.

The police released the trio on bail some two hours later.

In the 12.30am incident, the police van was about to ferry the detained village leaders to the city police headquarters in Jalan Patani when the residents, mostly women, formed a human barricade at the station's gate.

Chanting slogans, the residents successfully blocked the van from moving out before blazing media cameras.

During the commotion, there was some pushing and shoving by both the police and villagers, but no one was hurt or arrested.

Blogger Aravindraj who was at the scene proclaimed it as a victory for Makkal Sakti (people's power).

"This would go down in history that for the first time, people's power had overcome police power," they said.

Two police reports

A police officer said the trio were arrested earlier at 10.30pm based on two reports - one lodged by a resident M Shanta on July 9 and another by a Bangaldeshi called Nordin on Aug 4.

In her report, Shanta had accused Tharmaraj of threatening her during an argument in the village last month.

However, at 1.30am today Shanta suddenly appeared at the station and withdrew her report.

She told reporters later that the report was meant only to protect her from any harm. "But I never intended for Tharmaraj to be arrested," she said.

Nordin, a worker hired by developer Nusmetro Venture (P) Sdn Bhd, had accused Sugumaran and Stephen of threatening him when the developer brought a demolition team to tear down the houses in Kampung Buah Pala on Aug 3.

According to villagers at the police station, Stephen was nowhere near the villagers' human barricade while Sugumaran was not present at all in the village on that day.

The trio were arrested at 10.30pm when they went to the Jelutong police station to have their statements recorded following an earlier report by Tharmaraj on alleged police harassment.

Another villager K Murugan, 46, was also arrested together with them over another report lodged separately by a villager known only as Saravanan.

However, Murugan was released almost immediately apparently because the complainant had withdrawn his report.

State gov't blamed

Minutes after the news of the trio's arrest spread, villagers gathered at the police station.

However, despite requests by lawyer Darshan Singh Khaira and local MIC leaders, the police refused to allow the trio out on police bail.

The police had originally planned to remand the trio today.

"This must be the work of the state government," claimed Sugumaran upon his release.

Kampung Buah Pala is commonly known as the Tamil High Chaparral

The village faces demolition on Sept 1. Two previous demolition attempts by Nusmetro early this month were aborted following stiff resistance from the villagers.

Since 1999, the villagers and several social organisations have lobbied for the village to be preserved as a state Indian heritage village.

The High Chaparral crisis has remained as an explosive political issue for the DAP state government to date.

UMNO stirring the racial pot in Seksyen 23 – Shah Alam

HINDRAF condemns the latest incident involving the act of placing a severed cow’s head outside the gates of the state secretariat building in Selangor.

HINDRAF believes UMNO and their cohorts in the Royal Police Force (PDRM) organized this act that is inflammatory with an intention to incite and create racial hatred and feelings between the Muslims and Hindus.

These perpetrators were able to walk over 300 metres in open public and conduct their seditious speeches calling openly for bloodshed, and racial chaos without any interference from the police force. So far nothing has been done by the PDRM or the AG’s department other than issuing lip service statements.

Selangor Police chief Khalid Abu Bakar states “If a report is lodged, we will definitely take the necessary action,". Here we are talking about an outright and outrageous act in fanning racial hatred that could threaten the public security and he claims he needs a police report before an action can be taken.

The police had on many previous occasions brutally arrested and questioned peaceful protesters without any reasons for fear of public security, but they would need a report before they can take any action for those inciting violence and parading in the public with a severed cow’s head to undermine the sensitivity of the Hindus. This is absurd and nonsensical.

Who else could practice such double standard other the UMNO led government and its stooges and that is why HINDRAF believes that this is the work of the UMNO government to create unrest in Selangor.

There is no distinction between a muslim dominated area and non muslim dominated area as Malaysia is one multiracial and multicultural society living together side by side in co-existence in respect of each other’s race, religious practice and beliefs.

Instead of promoting harmony amongst Malaysians, UMNO is fast becoming the public threat by protecting such devious and extremist acts.

UMNO should curtail such irresponsible acts rather than seeding and sowing hatred, bullying extremist elements and fascist mindset amongst the fanatical Muslims for their own political survival.

PM Najib has to immediately issue a statement and make a firm stand on the subject and not delegate this paramount duty to his “mandores” and eventually hoping for the whole issue to be swept under the carpet.

If the AG’s department fails to charge these perpetrators, HINDRAF would proceed to formally lodge complaints with the UN Human Rights Council, European Parliament, UK Foreign affairs select committee and the Global Human Rights Defence based in The Hague.

In solidarity for a harmonious Malaysia Hindraf calls upon all peaceful citizens who respect and cherish Religious Freedom and the right to co-exist to join us on a peaceful candle vigil at Dataran Merdeka on 5thSeptember 2009 at 6.45pm
Thank you.

Temple demo: Residents march with cow's head - Malaysiakini

Some 50 residents enraged with the proposed relocation of a Hindu temple to their area staged a noisy protest with a severed cow's head this afternoon.

The residents - from Section 23 in Shah Alam - who gathered after the Friday prayers, placed the head outside the gates of the state secretariat building for a short period before removing it.

"Where is Xavier? This head is for him," shouted one of the protesters in reference to Selangor executive councillor Dr Xavier Jeyakumar.

Jeyakumar is one of those in charge of non-Muslim affairs in the state.

Earlier, the protesters had marched some 300m from the state mosque to the state secretariat building.

The protesters also condemned Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim, exco member Rodziah Ismail (as the area falls under her state constituency) and Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad.

Before dispersing, several protesters spat and stomped on the cow's head. The cow is considered sacred among Hindus.

Addressing the crowd, Section 23 action committee deputy chair Ibrahim Sabri said: "If there is blood, you (the state government) will be responsible if you are adamant about building the temple."

"This is a warning. Relocate the temple to Section 22. This cow is a present to the state government. This is a gift from us," he added.

The protesters also carried several banners which among others read 'Take Beer' (mocking PAS' rallying cry of 'Takbir') and 'Illegal temples are very small, but once relocated, they are as big as Putrajaya'.

The crowd gathered for about 15 minutes at the main entrance of the state secretariat building under the watch of more than a dozen police personnel.

'We'll not budge an inch'

Speaking to reporters later, Action Committee chair Mahyuddin Manaf warned that the state government must give in or the residents would retaliate.

"We will not budge one inch, even if lives are lost or blood is made to flow. We will still defend Section 23 from having a temple built there," he said.

He added that a protest memorandum was forwarded to the state government two months ago but there has been no response.

Contacted later, Mahyuddin distanced his organisation from the act of bringing the cow head to the protest.

"It is not our intention. We were surprised," he said, denying that the act was intended to insult Hindus.

He said that the cow head was likely brought by angry residents.

"Maybe, they meant it (as a symbol of) stupidity. In Malay culture, the cow is a symbol of stupidity, or leaders that are stupid," he said.

On Aug 11, the state government announced that the relocation of the temple from Section 19 to Section 23 was final and will be situated 200m from the nearest house and 400m from a surau.

The temple will face an industrial lot and will be separated from the houses by a playground and a multi-purpose hall.

However, some residents felt that it was not appropriate to build a temple in a Muslim-majority area.

The Pakatan Rakyat state government accused rivals Umno of instigating the crowd to protest the relocation.

Jeyakumar to lodge police report

In an immediate reaction, a furious Jeyakumar described the protest as "unwarranted, unacceptable and without sensitivity towards other religions."

He also said that he will lodge a police report on the matter soon.

"These people should have ethics. They are inciting racial and religious hatred. I am going to lodge a police report against these people," he told Malaysiakini.

He also expressed disappointment towards the police personnel at the scene for not taking any action against the protesters.

"The police didn't stop anybody. The police should have arrested them and charged them for inciting hatred," he said, adding that he could tolerate with "ethical" demonstrations.

Jeyakumar is slated to meet Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar and other police officers over the matter tomorrow.

Press statement – HINDRAF to seek audience with PM Najib Abdul Razak

On April 10, 2009, HINDRAF as a gesture of goodwill took a stance to provide a 100 days performance benckmark for the new administration under Najib Abdul Razak to address and redress the issues facing the Malaysian Indians.

The 100 days is up and HINDRAF on August 27, 2009 at 2.00pm will be submitting a memorandum in his office similar to what we did under Ahmad Badawi’s administration two years ago.

HINDRAF, in good faith wishes that that the Najib administration will not shun us away as what had been done by the previous administration but rather embrace and grant us an opportunity whereby we will be able to raise our 18 point demand to seek amicable and workable solutions for the systematically marginalized and discriminated Malaysian Indians.

We hope that the Najib administration that have been highlighting the One Malaysia concept will live up to it and listen to the grievances brought forward by HINDRAF on the discrimination and marginalization Malaysian Indians through uneven and discriminative policies to participate for the betterment of the nation.

Thank you.

MACC and Lim Guan Eng-Nice Game!

Kg.Buah Pala issues has been ongoing for more than a year now since the take over by the Pakatan Rakyat Government from 3rd March 2008 due to the influence by the Hindraf supports which cannot be denied by anyone. Upon taking over the Penang State Government, its DAP based Chief Minister the Faithful and generous, Lim Guan Eng, the leader who does'nt Lie! (Bullshit!) had promised to take severe action on the Illegal transaction of the land of Kg.Buah Pala to the Koperasi Pegawai Kerajaan Pulau Pinang by the former Penang TPM/DCM from Barisan Nasional Government.

He, and 2 more leaders with integrity(Bullshit!) and never lie leader(Bullshit!) Prof.Ramasamy and RSN Rayer(The Award winner for the best Liar! ADUN by Cryingvoices) had made a complaint to the MACC on the corruption and fraud found in the Buah Pala Land transaction. The report of the investigation is now available for public viewing at every bus-stop and public toilets nationwide!

Funny? are you thinking that this writer is insane and making fun of the situation? Yes I am, where the hell is the MACC report? why Lim Guan Eng who was so eager to file a case with MACC and bambooing UMNO and Barisan Nasional for the illegal transaction is on the developers underwear now? Why is he so eager to chase the Villagers and keep mum about the MACC report made by him and his pirates? Why was Jagdeep sent out of the State Assembly? What did he accused the former DCM who is from UMNO? Why blaming Koh Soo Koon for the fraud when you as the Chief Minister of a State has all the rights to stop the Project? and file a suit against the former government when you know it's an illegal transaction? Where is section 116(1)(D)? When you planned to use it? after all the houses been demolished and when the construction starts? so that you can use the land for your personal use and the senseless agreement that you are forcing the villager to sign now will be invalid when the project halts? or Is it because all the people there, are Poor Indians and the place is full of Cowshed and Cow Dungs all over like you have mention earlier?

You are not a racist Mr.Lim Guan Eng, yes we agree that you have 2 useless right hand mans with you who is a bigger liar than anyone else and blaming Samy Vellu and poking his backside whenever their fingers are itchy, Whatever Samy Vellu did for the past 30+ years in the politics maybe wrong, but he has never demolished anyones house and chase them out in the street, His 30+ years crimes are smaller compared to the sins that you two Liars commit! Prove me that I m wrong! Sue me if you have never promise the Villagers that this Land will be here as long as Ramasamy is in power with Pakatan Rakyat as the Deputy Chief Minister 2, Sue me if you say I talk nonsense and you have never promise to arrange for an allocation to have the Ponggal festival as an annual event in Kg.Buah Pala! Sue me if you did not say that Kg.Buah Pala is the only remaining indian Heritage Village in the country! Liar! Liar! Liar!

Simple point to think ; You were so eager to make this land fraud a big issue, then you said that you wanted to use 116(1)(D) to stop development project, then you screwed the Developer Nusmetro for trying to Demolish the Village, and now you are acting as Die Hard FAN for Nusmetro, why this much of changes in principals? What happened to case that you three stooges filed with the MACC?

Why Must you eager than the Developer and the Landowner Koperasi trying to persuade the Villagers to sign on the Shit agreement that Nusmetro Uneducated fools prepared? As a Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, Professor, Lawyer and crook team, dont you think that the agreement is a mere trap for the villagers? Who has prepared it? who signed on behalf of the Director? Where is the Stamp? where is the chop? Where is the floor plan of the Double storey house which you, you and only you claiming will fetch up to RM500,000 in the market? What Material? where will it be built? Who guarantees the project? Why no letter from the state government?

So many question is lingering in my mind, even my mind, as a fool in the legal terms, what about u? Professor? Lawyer? Crooks? Think... we know everything thats going on, you still have another 4+days to retract the project and stop all your sins.. Good Luck for the next General Election, If Buah Pala falls! DAP Government in the Penang State will be dragged together and buried beneath the Debris of the Demolition!

Conscious and Unconscious

Press Statement by the Kg.Buah Pala residents

By Tharmaraj, Assistant secretary, KBP Rsidents Association

Lim Guan Eng has stated that he has washed his hands off this issue. But we live here, we have to find a solution for our problems with or without the State Government’s help. It is most unfortunate for a Chief Executive of a State Government to take this negative stand against its rakyat.

Nevertheless we will proceed.

We have decided we will talk to whoever will help us to resolve this issue. This includes the Koperasi to whom the land has been sold by the State Government. We will propose to them that they should consider sharing the land with us so we can retain a Heritage village, even though a smaller one. We are hopeful that the Koperasi will want to talk to us and to resolve this matter amicably, something that the Developer and the State Government has not been able to do up to now. We will be doing this on our very own initiative without the assistance of any political party.

We are reasonable people and we do not seek the double storey houses worth RM500,000 that Lim Guan Eng and his supporters have been talking about. Their objective in doing this is to turn public opinion away from us by making us look like a greedy set of people. What we seek is only to retain our land and our way of life. If we can negotiate a portion of the land from the Koperasi, we will build it up into a Heritage Village.

If we are able to get the Koperasi to agree to sell a portion of the land through our negotiation at a price that is reasonable and which is within the State Governments budget to buy and build on, the State Government should not now start to give some reason and deny us this opportunity again.

We are hopeful that the State Government will work along with us on this solution if it comes to pass. We hope that the State Government will not give any more reasons like bad precedents or that the villagers are being too greedy or arrogant and other such reasons.

Hindraf head to sue DAP - Malaysiakini

Hindraf chairperson P Waythamoorthy is threatening legal action against three Indian DAP leaders over allegations that he misappropriated funds ranging from RM700,000 to millions allegedly collected to meet the cost of a civil suit against the UK government.

The exiled Indian rights activist came under attack last week with allegations that he misappropriated the funds to live a comfortable life in exile, while his followers footed the bill.

Waythamoorthy (right) has been living in-exile in London, after he fled the government's crackdown on Hindraf following the events of their rally on Nov 25 last year.

“The unfounded malicious and vindictive allegations by DAP leaders are defamatory,” said Waythamoorthy who will instruct his lawyers to initiate legal action against the DAP leaders in the coming weeks in a statement e-mailed to the media from London.

He named Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy, Sungkai assemblyperson A Sivanesan and Hindraf activist V Ganabatirau as responsible for the defamatory attack upon his character.

He added that the purpose of the action is to give all three DAP leaders the honour and opportunity to prove their allegations in a court of law.

DAP's diversionary tactics

According to him, “Hindraf have vigorously campaigned to save this last remaining heritage village (Kampung Buah Pala) and in the process have raised various legitimate questions that the DAP-led government could not and dare not answer”.

Waythamorthy also claimed that because of Hindraf's support of the Kampung Buah Pala villagers, “(Chief Minister) Lim Guan Eng had instructed his Indian party lieutenants to divert attention by attacking... Hindraf” in order to bury the issue.

On Aug 12 Ramasamy had called upon the leader of the outlawed Hindraf to account for the funds allegedly collected for Hindraf's suit. Sivanesan and Ganabatirau echoed the Penang DCM's call for an accounting of the purported funds.

Waythamoorthy stressed that he “never collected a single cent from the public to fund the civil suit” filed by Hindraf in 2007.

The suit against the Britain claimed damages for the suffering of their Indian forefathers and the present generation of Malaysians of Indian descent, allegedly caused by the then British Empire.

“I had been very reluctant to counter the allegations against me by these DAP Indian leaders as I did not wish to divert the attention and make the people of Kg Buah Pala scapegoats in their desperate attempt to save their village, however I am now compelled to break the silence” said Waythamoorthy.
